The Strathwood Basics The Best Anti-Gravity Adjustable Recliner Chair

Strathwood's anti-gravity recliner is designed to provide the same weightless, floating sensations NASA astronauts experience in a gravity-free environment. These reclined, "weightless" positions raise legs, thereby reducing pressure on the spine and relieving muscle tension. Due to a unique locking system, the recliner adjusts to offer infinite back and foot positions. Adding comfort to the chair is a removable pillow to serve as a headrest or lumbar support. Best of all, take the chair absolutely anywhere. It folds as compactly as standard lounge chairs.

Bungee cords through metal grommets secure the ultra-durable outdoor fabric seat to its lightweight, powder-coated steel frame and give the chair its renowned suspension seating. The body of the chair is a polyester yarn with a resin coating, woven into very durable and elastic fabric. The arms are made of a hard plastic for durability. Though the steel seat frame resists rust and corrosion and is powder coated to protect it from weathering, the recliner is not meant to be left outdoors year round in all weather. The recliner is designed to be very easy to set up and take down for storing.

Able to hold up to 250 pounds, the recliner measures 63.8 inches long by 26.8 inches wide by 29.3 inches high when opened and 36 inches long by 26.8 inches wide by 5.7 inches high when closed. It weighs 17.82 pounds and is available in a wide variety of colors for easy accessorizing. Strathwood also offers a variety of anti-gravity and canopy style chairs to accessorize with this one for outdoor enjoyment.

Strathwood furniture has quality, ease of use, and casual elegance at its core. Each piece is rigorously tested for durability, and assembly instructions have been standardized for simplicity from start to finish. Do not use this anti-gravity recliner if you have some tasks to do. If you’re even a bit tired or sleepy in your body and sit or lay down in this recliner you are going to fall asleep.

It comes fully assembled and ready to use straight out the box.

Cons

Even though they are very well made and built to last, you shouldn’t leave them outside all year long, especially in the rain. They will rapidly  rust and it might drip rust on your patio floor or deck.

This chair is not designed for extremely tall and/or broad people, it might not be so comfortable. The knobs could be stronger.

May 19, 2011: UPDATE. It’s time to get the Recliner out and go for a third season of use. Without exception this chair looks almost exactly as it looked in 2009 when it arrived. Two seasons of use and it’s still like new. After sun, rain and lots of wind I am delighted with the Strathwood. Do not use this if you have work to do. If you have the slightest bit of sleep in your system and relax in this recliner you are going to go to sleep. I set this up on the deck with the intention of reading a while and then finishing some other tasks related to spring cleanup. Whoops…Click Here To Read More

I’ll be honest with you. I bought this chair to sleep in. I don’t mean that I bought it to nap in. I mean that I bought it to sleep through the night. I needed a place to stay short term until I was able to move into a new apartment. Anyways, I was short on space since my parents had filled my room full of bookshelves and junk when I moved out. I didn’t have room for a full sized bed, so I tried a couple camping cots. They didn’t last long and/or were terribly uncomfortable for a sleeping situation. So I set out to find a new “bed” and I stumbled upon this gem…Click Here To Read More

3.0 out of 5 stars Help, I’m reclining and I can’t get up …, August 1, 2008 By
Alley “light” (Florida, USA) This review is from: Strathwood Basics Anti-Gravity Adjustable Recliners (Lawn & Patio)

I could really love this chair if only I could get in and out of it without so much difficulty. At full recline, the zero gravity effect is wonderful. However, for as much as I want to use this chair, getting into and out of it is just too challenging.

P.S. I’m a senior and I’m tall. Thirty years ago, no big deal!Click Here To Read More
